THINGS TO CONSIDER
Firstly understand what you want your vehicle signage to do for you. It would normally fall under one of the following categories. Promotional short term, Brand recognition only, Business promotional, Sponsorship, Private vehicle enhancement, Protection – stone guard films or Vehicle wraps
This is a really important thing to consider before designing any vehicle signage. Too often we see expensive designs on vehicles presented for pricing which fall short of WOF standards. We recommend that any vehicle signage still be checked by your WOF provider as the rules are subject to change.
Generally you have between 3-6 seconds to look at a vehicle as it drives by you so keeping it simple and clear are paramount rules. As a potential customer I want to know who you are, what you do and how I can contact you. So if you have an overpowering logo and the name isn’t really clear I’m not going to remember you. If you really want them to phone you minimise the website or if your web driven highlight that. If you have services that are better than anyone else or you are a specialist in something tell me!
If your vehicle is leased or you own it consider how long you will be keeping it. Let us know and we’ll use a film that will last that timeframe.
The condition of the vehicle is paramount to how long your signage will last. So flaking or poor paint will affect the adhesion of your graphics and they will ultimately fail.
We need to be mindful that the two are completely different. Paint is liquid and provides 100% coverage. Vinyl is an organic film which when even using the very best films will always despite what the manufacturers and resellers may tell you will always shrink back marginally. So if you’re after 100% coverage on a vehicle show us what you are after and we’ll let you know if it’s achievable.
Generally we recommend cleaning the vehicle before presenting for signage the night before. Don’t use waxes or polishes this forms a barrier between the surface and the film. Just use a household detergent and remove any surface dirt. Vehicles presented for signage with heavy deposits of tar and bugs could be charged additional to take them to a satisfactory application level.
That’s no problem we work throughout New Zealand on a regular basis with our extensive network of qualified applicators.
